As a recently retired Henrico County School Principal, I have focused my time on my passion - gardening. Throughout our 30 years in Varina, my husband and I have always maintained a garden on our 2 acres. Two years ago, I was looking for plants that would be great pollinators and I expanded my garden to include Luffa.

 

This led to an explosion of Luffa, which I then learned how to harvest and dry. I began using these Luffa Sponges in my kitchen for cleaning dishes, fruit, vegetables and eggs from our chickens and in the bath. I even began to clean with them. Looking for alternative uses for my Luffa Sponges, I began to hand pour Luffa embedded soap - glycerin and goat's milk.

 

After gifting these and receiving great feedback, Lara’s Luffa was born. Currently, these Luffa Sponges and Soaps as well other hand-made items for the kitchen and bath are being sold at the Dorey Park Farmer’s Market, 2999 Darbytown Rd, Henrico, VA 23231, on Saturdays from 9-12 from June to October and by request.
